Associate Lecturer in Media Law
The Department of Film & Media is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and well-organised applicant to the role of Associate Lecturer in Media Law to teach on the BA (Hons) Sports Journalism and MA Sports Broadcast Journalism courses. We are looking to appoint an outstanding candidate with extensive industry experience, and in delivering lectures within HE at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The successful applicant will have industry knowledge in journalism and sports journalism, and an up-to-date working knowledge of media law and how it applies to journalism practice. The ability to lesson plan for seminars, deliver lectures and within the specialism of media law for sports journalism in support of the academic aims of the courses is a must. They must be resourceful, self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, be a good team worker and be able to demonstrate an aptitude to problem solve requests while dealing tactfully with students. The ability to work under pressure is essential.
Essential Criteria
1. Industry experience of media law as it applies to journalism practice, and relevant knowledge of the wider creative Industries.
2. Experience of HE teaching/lecturing is desirable.
3. Ability to achieve Fellow Status as part of the Higher Education Academy’s Professional Recognition scheme, within agreed timescales (as soon as is practicably possible and definitely within three years of commencement of employment).
