To support GP practices across West Lothian to carry out Long Term Condition management by obtaining blood samples, as requested, from patients by venepuncture ensuring patient and personal safety through adherence to Divisional Protocols, Policies and Procedures and relevant Health and Safety legislation at all times. To ensure correct labeling of blood samples in preparation for being forwarded to the laboratory for testing.
To obtain BP, pulse, height, weight measurements (Biometrics) and record correctly and appropriately in patient records using EMIS or Vision.
To carry out various tasks to support GP practices and Community Nursing Teams, including supporting nursing staff within treatment rooms, district nursing teams and administering vaccinations as per local and national guidance.
To support with cold chain management and to order stock when required.
To provide cover in the absence of nursing/medical staff to ensure collections are taken.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
