Operations Manager - South Area Location: Perth (with travel across Killin, Fort William, Inveraray, and Machrihanish) Salary: £50,000 Company Car Reporting to: Senior Operations Manager About the Role Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the South Area of the North West Unit. This is a key leadership role, managing a team of five supervisors and a total workforce of 75 across multiple locations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing operations from a people, workload, and cost perspective, ensuring efficient delivery of highway maintenance activities within a term maintenance contract. Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations across multiple locations, ensuring efficient resource allocation and productivity. Provide leadership and support to five direct-report supervisors and a workforce of 75 staff. Monitor and manage project costs, sign off timesheets, and oversee drainage works and measurement of completed tasks. Conduct and lead weekly meetings, ensuring workload is effectively distributed and key performance targets are met. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, fostering a culture of safety and best practices. Engage in winter maintenance delivery, ensuring road networks remain operational in challenging conditions. Handle challenging conversations with the workforce and maintain strong working relationships across all levels. What We’re Looking For: Experience: Strong background in highway maintenance, civil engineering, groundworks, or construction environments. Previous roles such as Contracts Manager or Foreman are highly relevant. Qualifications: Ideally an HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, though extensive industry experience will also be considered. Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Technologically adept - ability to work with digital systems and reports. Resilient and confident in managing a blue-collar workforce. Other Requirements: A full UK driving licence is essential. Salary: Competitive salary plus a company car.
