About the role This role involves leading our Allegations Management service, working together with our team of LADOs and the Gloucestershire Safeguarding Children’s Partnership (GSCP) to ensure a safer workforce for children in Gloucestershire. You will be responsible for the production of the Allegations Management annual report which you will share with the GSCP executive. You will work together with the GSCP attending partnership sub group meetings, ensuring the delivery of training to partner agencies, and raising awareness on the importance of investigating allegations relating to people who are in a position of trust with children. The role also involves leading on our Child Protection Conferencing Team’s ‘My Safety’ approach for children who are experiencing Harm Outside of the Home (HOTH). You will work alongside the Service Manager for the Child Protection Conferencing Team and have responsibility for the delivery of safety plans for children living at home with their parents, our children in care and care leavers who may be at risk of significant harm outside of their homes. This is an essential role to secure good outcomes and safety for some of the most vulnerable children and young people of Gloucestershire. The Multi-Agency Reviewing Service provides a specialist independent service to every child subject to a child protection plan, those within the care of the Local Authority and our care leavers. This post will have responsibility for management of our team of LADOs as well as number of our Child Protection Chairs who chair My Safety Meetings. You will be responsible for ensuring that the service being provided to children is effective, high performing and of a high quality; overseeing practice that has strategic impact on the system as a whole. You will ensure the views of children are central to practice and service developments, integrating this with your professional and research/evaluative knowledge to drive service improvement. You will use quality assurance and resources appropriately and be responsible for the effective day-to-day running of your service areas. As part of our commitment to best practice you will be responsible for proactively identify strengths and challenging weak and inadequate practice, thereby playing a pivotal role in the local authority’s continuous improvement journey for children. About you As well as your experience as a frontline social worker, there are some things we require of you to be successfully appointed to this post: experience of complex safeguarding practice in Children’s social care to have provided support and guidance to other social workers (either through team management or another senior safeguarding role) to have been accountable for the progress and quality of plans for children Social Work England registration a recognised social work qualification enhanced DBS clearance full driving licence and willingness to drive.
