A malting company, producing high-quality malt and malted ingredients in the East of England, is looking to recruit a Maltings Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in their production operation. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in food manufacturing operations along with a strong focus on timely and accurate information processing. The quality manager will work closely with all site teams to support malt production, ensure customer deliveries are within specification, manage product stocks and quality and drive operational excellence.

Key tasks:
* Monitor, review and feed back to production on product quality.
* Work with production, planning and sales teams.
* Generate customer blends daily/weekly as required and in turn, manage malt stocks and the stock rotation processes in place to minimise any product losses/write off’s.
* Work closely with team to ensure OTIF delivery is maintained.
* Collaborate to develop and implement strategies to enhance malting quality, yield, and throughput while minimizing waste and resource consumption.
* Assist with continuous improvement projects aimed at streamlining workflows, reducing downtime, and increasing overall productivity.
* Develop and innovate new systems to drive performance of the department.
* Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
* Support the malting team in all aspects of operations on site.
* Assist in development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and training materials for technical processes. Coach and develop the site team in malt production, quality and improvements.
* Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in malting operations and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Lead quality investigations and complaints and feedback findings to relevant parties.
* Collaborate with operations team to design and develop recipes and processes.
Key requirements:
* Ideally, a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Brewing & Distilling, Food Science, Brewing Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
* 3-5 years of experience in a technical role, malting operations, process engineering, or related field.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different levels of the organization.
* Leadership abilities with a passion for driving change and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Ideally, knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards related to malting operations.
