Experience in any of these sectors would be beneficial. The salaries are as a guide but can be negotiable depending on experience:
* Senior Engineer – Circa £55,000 depending on experience +/-
* Intermediate – Circa £45,000 depending on experience +/-
An experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer is needed to join a thriving and vibrant family-run practice of mechanical and electrical consulting engineers in Essex, who have been in business for over 40 years. They are experienced in most sectors of the construction industry, including railway and underground schemes, education projects, commercial offices, and civic buildings. Due to business expansion, they are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer who seeks a challenging and stimulating environment.
The ideal candidates will be Chartered or close to achieving Chartered status. They will have a flexible attitude and be comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously, from inception to completion. We expect our engineers to maintain knowledge of current British regulations and standards, as well as a keen interest in current sustainability issues.
Job tasks:
1. Undertake surveys and condition reports.
2. Prepare feasibility studies and cost plans.
3. Prepare electrical designs (detailed design) and prepare tender documents.
4. Attend design, client, and site meetings.
5. Supervise and mentor junior members of staff and CAD team.
6. Act as Contract administrator on mechanical lead projects.
7. Work as part of a team in multidisciplinary jobs.
Qualifications: Masters or Honours Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
Experience: A wide range of project experience in refurbishment, education, rail/transport, leisure, commercial office, and heritage sectors would be perfect for this role.
Skills: You will need to be able to prepare calculations in Hevacomp and Dialux (or similar), produce electrical designs without assistance, and have experience of carrying out surveys and preparing reports/specifications. Experience in a client-facing role is essential. You should be able to communicate effectively with in-house and external team members and demonstrate good time management while working on multiple concurrent projects.
