Job summary The Congenital Cardiac Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust is based at the Leeds General Infirmary. Both the childrens and adult services are located at this site, as well as all necessary supporting services. The Department is a supra-regional service, serving a population of 5.5 million in the Yorkshire and North Trent region. The annual workload of the department is recovering after the pandemic and aiming at 500 operations comprising neonates, infants, children, and adults with congenital heart disease. This post supports the Consultant Congenital Cardiac Surgeons and works very closely with the Paediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiologists, the Intensive care units, and the wider multidisciplinary team Main duties of the job The post holder will assist the Consultant Surgeons in the operating theatre for 2-3 days per week and supports the cardiac ICUs and wards. They will attend the weekly multidisciplinary meeting and departmental audit meetings and attend the outpatient clinic. The post holder will participate in the 1:5 non-resident on call Rota for the Congenital Cardiac Surgery Service.
