Job Title: Head of Facilities Management & Capital Projects
Reporting To: Assistant Director - Asset Management
Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to manage our facilities, capital projects, and health and safety compliance. As the Head of Facilities Management & Capital Projects, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operational and strategic delivery of facilities management services and the management of capital projects. You will ensure all health, safety, and compliance requirements are met, while providing leadership and direction to the teams involved in managing a diverse portfolio of properties.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
1. Lead and manage performance across a wide range of sites within our asset management portfolio, ensuring both operational and strategic objectives are met.
2. Take responsibility for overseeing multiple facilities management programmes, ensuring service delivery aligns with the organisation's strategic goals.
3. Lead the corporate and schools capital delivery programme, including the management of budgets and expenditure decisions.
4. Oversee day-to-day operations, contributing to the development and execution of the Asset Management Strategy.
5. Manage resources effectively and ensure the team implements cost-efficient and performance-driven approaches.
Communication & Engagement:
1. Cultivate strong partnerships with external suppliers and service providers, ensuring that all facilities management contracts are effectively managed and performance standards are met.
2. Act as an integral member of the senior management team, promoting a vision for the future and driving organisational success.
3. Work with senior stakeholders and attend meetings, offering insights and contributing to key decision-making processes.
Data Analysis & Decision Making:
1. Lead the implementation of a corporate landlord model, driving improvements across asset management services.
2. Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement an estates strategy, including a structured disposal programme.
3. Utilise data and evidence to evaluate service performance and implement necessary improvements to drive value for the organisation.
Compliance & Performance Management:
1. Ensure that all health and safety requirements, statutory compliance, and planned maintenance programmes are executed effectively across the asset portfolio.
2. Develop and manage risk registers to ensure the highest levels of compliance and mitigate potential issues.
3. Build and manage procurement frameworks, ensuring services are delivered to the highest standards in line with contractual agreements.
Required Skills & Experience:
Qualifications:
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent, with significant experience in a similar role.
2. Desirable: Management qualification, IWFM, NEBOSH, or RICS accreditation.
Knowledge & Experience:
1. In-depth understanding of facilities and property management, health and safety, and compliance within an asset management environment.
2. Proven experience in managing capital projects and service delivery across large portfolios.
3. Strong track record of leading and managing complex services, driving change and operational efficiency.
4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare and present reports to senior stakeholders.
5. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with commercial awareness and the ability to work under pressure.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Knowledge of public sector challenges and the implementation of a corporate landlord model.
2. Experience in managing building-related Health and Safety and statutory compliance in large organisations.

1. Ability to travel across locations as required.
2. Hybrid working arrangement with flexibility to meet service requirements.
3. Flexibility to work outside of traditional hours, including weekends or evenings, when necessary.
