Care with Agility You will participate in the development and review of policies and guidelines within the service and in line with best practice. You will participate in audit, clinical review and research as appropriate, encouraging staff participation and responding to learning required from identified incidents. Inform education and training programmes through the maintenance of current clinical knowledge in palliative and end of life care and in clinical skills, and through recognition of own development needs. Financial Accountability Support the Head of Education in gathering evidence, data and statistics to ensure the achievement of key performance indicators, and the reporting of statistical and qualitative data to evidence the development and effectiveness of education provision. Assist the Head of Education with the processing of applications for external education attendance, Hospice UK grants, bursaries and other funding as needed. Support the management of relationships with external training providers. Supportive Culture Assist your colleagues in the Education Team to continue to develop, plan and deliver the education, training and development programme within Thames Hospice. This includes clinical training such as syringe pump use and catheterisation, plus training and development on broader topics such as communication skills, human factors, and symptom management. Within this role you will act as a role model, demonstrate clinical expertise and credibility in clinical practice, and promote best practice at all times You will facilitate the demonstration of clinical competence for current and newly recruited staff, ensuring competency assessments are up to date, monitored and recorded in accordance with good clinical practice. Support the Head of Education to provide mandatory and statutory training compliance information for monthly Compliance and Quality meetings, quarterly board meetings, KPI information, and any other reports as required. Extending reach As part of the Education team, you will work in collaboration with external organisations such as Care / Nursing Homes to identify and provide resources and delivery of teaching programmes. Assist with student placements (e.g. Nurses, Paramedics, Nursing Associates etc.) and provide support and teaching to staff and students with this. To represent Thames Hospice and the Education Team through attendance at internal and external meetings and forums relevant to the post. Be currently registered with the NMC as a Registered Nurse, and educated to degree level or equivalent A palliative and/or end of life care qualification or, relevant experience and willingness to undertake the palliative and/or end of life care qualification A teaching qualification or willingness to undertake such a qualification Completed Advanced Communication Skills Training or be willing to undertake this and complete the Advanced Communication Skills Training facilitators course You will be able to evidence Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor training in a community or hospice environment
