Protocol Education is currently recruiting teaching assistants to work in a highly developed special needs school based in Croydon. This school is looking for individuals with or without experience to work in classes of no more than 6 - 8 students who have a diagnosis of autism. If newly experienced, they will support and train you throughout the role. The main requirements are individuals who are keen to learn and can show and continue to display attributes such as initiative, patience, positivity, and teamwork. This role will require you to support both the class teacher and help students achieve their individualised developmental targets by supporting them on a one-to-one basis, developing communication skills, social interactions, managing sensory overload, and supporting students within the community.
Like most schools, you will be supporting students in lessons that include numeracy, literacy, music, P.E., swimming, art, food tech, but also in lessons specific to SEND, such as sensory play, K9 therapy, and physiotherapy. These lessons are tailored to meet each student's needs and provide clear goals to help them develop academically and socially throughout the academic year.
