The Greater London Authority (GLA) are looking to recruit a Senior Communications and Engagement Officer to join the Communities and Skills Directorate, specifically within the Skills and Employment Unit. This role is crucial for devising and implementing targeted external communications plans to maximise the impact of the Unit's work. The successful candidate will support the development and implementation of a high-quality and effective communications strategy, utilising a mix of media and engagement activities tailored to the needs of diverse target audiences. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Develop and implement innovative external communications plans for projects to increase awareness and participation in skills and employment programs. Collaborate with internal teams and external organisations to deliver integrated communications strategies. Utilise digital media, events, and traditional press to maximise the impact of the Skills and Employment Unit's initiatives. Respond to media and event inquiries, coordinating with the External Relations Unit and managing communications with the Mayor's office and other key stakeholders. Analyse stakeholder engagement to ensure communication strategies effectively shape and influence public debate and are tailored to the audience's needs. Manage and execute rigorous external communications planning, ensuring strategies are impactful and projects are managed effectively from inception through to follow-up. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience in delivering a range of external communications strategies to achieve significant impact. Understanding of how to increase an organisation's influence on policy issues. Strong knowledge of media strategies and experience using various media outlets to promote strategic policies and priorities. Familiarity with London's socio-economic environment and the issues facing a major world city. Excellent writing skills, with the ability to convey information concisely and fluently.
