Job responsibilities
We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Band 5 Dental Nurse to join our Maxillofacial and Orthodontic Team at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple.
The successful candidate will work alongside a dedicated team of Maxillofacial and Orthodontic consultants, staff grades dental nurses, and lab technicians in a busy supportive department.
The post holder works as part of a team of Dental Nurses and provides full surgery and administrative support to the consultant-led Orthodontic and OMFS Service that delivers specialist dental treatment for patients referred by dental practitioners and other healthcare professionals.
You will be required to support the clinician and staff undergoing training. The post holder will also provide a full range of administrative duties to support the effective and efficient delivery of Maxillofacial, Orthodontic, and dental care for patients. This includes liaising with the referring dentists, checking patients' details, providing advice, taking work to and from the dental lab, providing full chairside and surgery support, and recording activity on computerized systems.
We welcome applications from candidates who do not yet hold an IV sedation qualification but demonstrate the potential to be the right fit for the role. Successful applicants without this qualification will initially be employed at Band 4. Upon completion of the IV sedation qualification, they will progress to Band 5.
