Salary: £60,000 – 80,000 + Car Allowance + Profit Bonus up to £10,000 + 5% Matched Pension + BUPA Cover
The Company
Our customer specialises in the provision of specialist mechanical systems used in a number of industrial sectors which provide heating, cooling, condensing and compression of fluids and gases. The systems are bespoke and skid mounted comprising a combination of heat exchangers, pressure vessels and the associated pipework and instrumentation required. The projects the company deliver can range anywhere from £50,000 - £100,000 (standalone specialised equipment) up to £1 Million plus (full bespoke systems).
The company employs 800 globally and has been on an incredible growth journey in recent years, seeing their turnover grow from £30 million to £80 million. The company’s ambition does not stop there, with plans to double their turnover in the next three to four years.
In the UK, the business focuses on sales and design with 30 employees. The business has identified a new target market in Petrochemical/Oil & Gas and, as part of their strategic plan, is now looking for a Sales Manager to join the business and establish and grow this revenue stream.

The Role
The company already has a strong market presence in a number of sectors including waste to energy, hydrogen storage and power generation. As part of their strategic growth, they now want to target growth in the Petrochemical and Oil & Gas sectors, with a core focus for the revenue stream being in the UK and Europe.
The company has a clear three-year plan for growth, having researched the market value, and now needs an experienced Sales Manager to join the business and work with them to deliver the plan. The business wants to grow the revenue stream from £3 million to £12 million over a three-year period.
The company already has a number of customers they sell systems to in allied markets who will be targets for the Petrochemical and Oil & Gas sectors. Alongside these, you will be looking to identify new business targets which will be a combination of OEM, EPC and end user customers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fleshing out the 30/60/90 day plan in more detail as you begin to understand the market and task at hand.
2. Generating RFQs for systems.
3. Building up cost proposals for bids – as the role grows, the company aims to provide support in this area.
4. Leveraging cross-selling opportunities with existing customers.
5. Researching target customers for new business opportunities.
6. Attending industry trade shows to network and generate new contacts.
7. Approaching key points of contact in customers to sell the business and its capabilities (typically engineers, buyers and supply chain leads).
8. Ensuring you are winning projects at target profit levels (minimum 15%).
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for this Sales Manager role, you will need to have a sales background within:
1. Technical sales within the Petrochemical or Oil & Gas Industry.
2. Or to have sold systems containing heat exchangers or pressure vessels.
3. Or to have sold any type of skid-based mounted process-related systems.
On top of this, you will need:
1. A strong appetite for new business development.
2. Some form of supporting qualification.
3. To be a strong negotiator.
4. To be happy travelling to the Derbyshire office one to two days a week (three days a week ideally initially during the onboarding process).
5. To have a solution and consultative sales style focused on value-added selling.
