A quick look at the role
Working in a busy logistics environment, the Transport Planner is responsible for routing. As a waste management company, they are a vital part of our operation. You will be responsible for effectively managing workload at the depots, utilising geographical knowledge, routing software, and information to ensure they are working as effectively as possible.
Your core responsibilities
* Use software systems and geographical knowledge to plan the routing of vehicles to ensure route optimisation.
* Monitor capacity at depots to ensure maximum waste segregation by ensuring that vehicles are routed to the correct depot depending on the depot's capacity.
* Liaise with Depot teams and the Logistics Manager to ensure service success KPIs are achieved.
* Support the regions in managing resources to ensure we make the best use of available vehicles and staff.
* Monitor and investigate all subcontracted work regularly and internalise the work where possible while ensuring the customer and business targets are met.
* Support the business with acquisitions by integrating new work into existing routes and achieving synergy savings for the business.
* Facilitate the mobilisation and internalisation of work that is driven from central teams (sub-contract/corporate accounts).
* Seek optimisation and efficiencies in the regions, enhancing their ability to optimise their trucks and resources.
* Planning software systems such as Logix are their prime work tool. This is a key role that interfaces with many functional teams in I&C, and as such, stakeholder management and communication skills are key.
Our essential requirements
* Proven track record within the logistics and haulage industry.
* General management and operational experience of multi-fleet operations.
* Well organised with excellent attention to detail.
