Maintenance Operative (Decorator)

The Role
This post is designed to support the smooth and efficient running of the Estates department. The post holder will primarily undertake decorating-related jobs and some small day-to-day maintenance, thus playing an integral part in supporting the School.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Decorating: including the correct preparation of floors, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, and applying wallpaper, stains, emulsions, undercoats, and gloss/satin paints to a high standard.
2. Performing small and varied day-to-day maintenance tasks, installations, and support for some project work.
3. Using a School device to utilize facilities management software ‘Halo’ to capture, distribute, and report on tasks.
4. Being flexible in uncommon circumstances, such as helping with out-of-hours contractor control, reacting to adverse weather, collaborating with other site teams, and assisting with security or safety concerns.
5. Undertaking regular training and development, including Educare and other online courses, tool-box-talks, and face-to-face training to support safe professional practice.
6. Completing any other tasks deemed suitable by the Director of Estates or line management.
7. Ensuring safety for oneself and others, following risk assessments and policies outlined by the School.
8. Supporting important school events, which may require working on Open Days, conferences, or similar.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Full UK driving licence
2. NVQ level 2 or above in relevant trades
3. Experience in construction-related environments
4. Ability to work effectively in teams
5. Self-motivated and uses initiative
6. Flexibility to work to changing priorities and deadlines
7. Excellent timekeeping and commitment
