The correct candidate will be responsible for meeting and greeting our visitors and young people daily. You will be the first face they check in with and required to report to the wider team any concerns for student well – being.
You will be required to check ID and ensure students, visitors and contractors are all wearing lanyards. Where they do not, you will be responsible for providing visitor passes and lanyards as well as challenging learners on no lanyards.
You will complete various day – to – day administrative tasks such as:
Use pro monitor to record updates for students and tag staff accordingly.
Use CPOMS for recording any safeguarding concerns.
Answer phones and record absences for students.
Respond to parent emails, or forward on to the most appropriate person.
Make phone calls and send emails to parents and other internal and external stakeholders.
You will support staff to arrange meetings with access to their calendars.
You will be responsible for the general student and visitor experience, with your own office.
You will work with a mentor who will support and design activities to achieve outcomes for your qualification, they will also check in regarding your well-being and workload.
You will also engage in any other business that the department requires your support with.
Our department offers personalised and individualised support to young people aged 16 – 18 ( up to 24 if they have an EHCP) and 14-16 learners who are Home Educated. Through a curriculum that offers Maths, English Tutorial and Personal and Social development, as well as pathways to a range of different vocational areas within the wider college our aim is to reduce NEET numbers in the borough and re-engage young people with access to meaningful, aspirational and engaging education to support their journey to a range of careers and employment through Level 2, 3 course, apprenticeships and T Levels.
Working week: 37 Hours per week. Monday – Thursday 08:30 – 17:00. Friday 08.30 - 16.30.
Lunch is 13:15 – 14:15
Qualifications required: GCSE grade 4 in Maths and English or equivalent L2 qualification.
Desired skills: Digital literacy skills: must be confident with all Microsoft office platforms including, word, excel, forms, teams and Office 365.
Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively both in verbal and written interactions.
Desired qualities: Personable, patient, resilience, tidy and organised.
Additional information: Aged 18 plus preferred due to the nature of the role.
Training: Delivery to be completed on site and off the job training either at Barnsley College or your place of work. Student to complete a Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship.
