Job Description - Data & Analytics Manager (15707)
Job Purpose
Reporting into the Head of Operational Insights & Improvements, the Data & Analytical Manager will lead the use of data analytics, tooling, and dashboarding to provide insight into operational planning and performance. This role will manage a team of five and will be responsible for identifying opportunities to drive data driven decision making across the department and the broader operations function.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, delivering insights and actions that improve safety, operational and financial performance.
2. Understand and proactively communicate key business performance levers to stakeholders and senior leadership.
3. Develop and own tools and dashboards to support insights into Crew training, Crew roster management and operational performance reporting.
4. Collaborate with the Senior Improvements Manager to conduct operational performance deep dives, using data to identify disruption drivers and improvement opportunities.
5. Lead a team of five analysts, ensuring high performance and supporting team development to enhance capability.
6. Review manual analytical processes and recommend automation where appropriate, driving continuous improvement in BAU processes and fostering a culture of innovation.
7. Conduct ad-hoc modelling, analysis and data visualisation as required.
8. Identify and develop future talent within the team, providing coaching and training while addressing underperformance.
9. Partner with Data Engineering teams and IT to ensure robust and accurate data capture and continuous improvement of data availability for analytics and the wider business.
10. Work across the Data and IT functions to access additional data and analytics expertise, where required.
What You’ll Need
1. Proven experience in an airline, consultancy, retail, e-commerce, or FMCG environment with a strong track record of data-driven decision-making.
2. Airline operations experience or exposure, understanding of how an airline builds and executes its operation.
3. Strong business acumen, ability to identify key drivers of business performance.
4. Excellent people skills, ability to balance questioning and idea generation while building relationships and trust across operations.
5. Proven leadership skills, ability to demonstrate value in a cost-focused business and motivate a team.
6. Focus and determination, a continuous improvement mindset with a drive for better processes and efficiencies.
7. At least 5 years of experience in data and analytics (consulting background is a plus).
8. Understanding of Agile methodologies and a hypothesis-driven approach.
9. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in financial and operational analysis.
10. Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex insights clearly.
11. Proven ability to transform data into actionable business change by understanding stakeholder needs and developing clear benefit cases.
12. Experience improving large data sets for enhanced accuracy and efficiency.
13. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving organisation.
14. Self-sufficient working style, able to operate with minimal supervision.
15. Delivery-focused mindset, particularly when executing under challenging circumstances.

Location & Hours of Work
This role is full time and hybrid where we spend 60% of our time together as a team at our head office at Luton Airport.
