Shift Manager

Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the role is to proactively manage and develop all aspects of the shift operations. The role exists to ensure the control of site and plant operations in a safe and efficient manner, generating product in accordance with business requirements while complying with relevant legislation and quality assurance standards.
Key Accountabilities:
EHS
* To ensure that site and local EHS procedures are properly applied, identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement.
* To provide accurate details of all incidents, recording detailed information of the first line follow up investigations.
Management
* To be the responsible person in charge of all aspects of the tactical site day to day operations.
* To manage and develop all aspects of shift operations including process activity, maintenance activity and the associated resource allocation.
* To be actively involved in developing improvements across the site associated with changes to business needs.
* To be proactive in problem solving.
* To lead, motivate and co-ordinate employees; supervising individuals working on the site on a daily basis.
* To act as a coach / facilitator in the development of both the shift team and day personnel.
* To ensure tasks are undertaken outside main area of skill and competence under TEST principles.
* To deal with day to day personnel issues that arise in a consistent and compliant manner.
Communication and Reporting
* To achieve timely and accurate data entry on both computer and in manual / written logs and be able to understand, interpret and present this information.
* To seek and draw on skills / knowledge / experience of others in decision-making processes.
* To liaise and interact with various parties including all operational staff, trades staff, QC, process technologists, logistics, management etc.
* To play a critical role in communicating all aspects of operational status and maintenance plans including comprehensive shift handovers and participation in various meetings.
Standards
* To ensure adherence to quality and other site procedures by audit and observation.
* To drive and maintain excellent housekeeping standards in all areas of the site.
Key Performance Indicators
* EHS statistics including accidents, incidents, audits, procedures, permit to work reviewing and 5S auditing.
* Quality conformance including in process and finished goods, packaging standards, etc.
* Plant utilisation in line with plan.
* Customer service performance, i.e. fulfilling production schedule.
* Control and presentation of plant information.
* Housekeeping standards.
This list is not exhaustive and it is expected that the post holder will be flexible in their duties as needed in the role to support the business.

The successful candidate will demonstrate achievements in:
* Excellent leadership skills.
* Good communication skills to a variety of stakeholders.
* Excellent operational knowledge of all areas of the site.
* Sound planning and resource coordination skills.
* Good understanding of site policies, practices and legislative requirements.
* Ability to proactively control the process plants across the site.
* Flexible approach with a capacity to work well and maintain performance levels under pressure.
Desirable qualifications and experience
* Experience in leading and managing teams would be advantageous.
