Engineering Technician
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Engineering Technician to join our facility management & delivery team. The Engineering Technician is part of a small, dedicated team, responsible for providing planned and reactive maintenance, to ensure the operational capability of the buildings complex support systems.

As an Engineering Technician you will be joining the existing engineering team, providing first line facility engineering solutions (electrical and mechanical) for defence clients, ensuring continuing defence output under the direction of the shift engineer.
This is a shift working position, (Apply online only)) (Apply online only)) (8 hrs 23 mins), including weekends and on-call requirement. Please note that this role involves manual handling tasks. Suitable enhancements for shift and on-call.
Engineering Technician Responsibilities
* Plant checks to confirm building status, monitor installations, equipment, Building Management System (B.M.S.) to provide feedback to the Duty Shift Engineer on plant defects or failure trends.
* Execute operational and planned maintenance tasks in accordance with PPM (Pre Planned Maintenance) programme allocated and prioritised by management.
* Complete Electrical testing and inspection in line with MOD policy
* Fault finding, remedial works identified during planned maintenance, or following plant failure, or complex control equipment.
* Perform the duties of skilled persons in accordance with MOD Safe Systems of Work JSP 375
* To carry out tasks as instructed by line management in the execution of their duties.
Engineering Technician Person specification
To be successful in the role of Engineering Technician you will have the following experience;
* Recognised electrical/mechanical engineering qualification/working towards (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in building services/facilities maintenance, including PPM, fault finding, and electrical testing/inspection. Experience working with safe systems of work is essential.
* Technical Skills: Understanding of electrical/mechanical principles, ability to interpret technical drawings, and knowledge of BMS. Familiarity with safe working practices and procedures is crucial.
* Physical Capabilities: Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling tasks, including working at heights (ladders, scaffolding) and in confined spaces. Must be able to work in potentially noisy environments and occasionally in inclement weather.
* Shift Work & Availability: Flexible and willing to work shifts (including weekends) and participate in an on-call rota. Reliability and punctuality are essential for shift work.
* Personal Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, good communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure. A commitment to health and safety is paramount.
Engineering Technician Essential Criteria
* Detail your time served apprenticeship or equivalent experience in an engineering position (preferably electrical).
* Describe how you would apply your knowledge to deliver engineering projects or services using established technologies and methods.
* Outline your proven ability to assess priorities, manage change and adapt to unexpected demands both independently and as a member of a team within and Engineering Requirements context.
