Operations Manager

The Role:
The Operations Manager’s primary responsibilities include the daily management and coordination of site operations, while ensuring compliance with all labour, safety, environmental, and corporate policies and regulations. This is a hands-on position that is responsible for maximising daily production. This position plays an integral part in plant operations, special projects, and has responsibility for developing and achieving budgetary and production targets.
Duties include:
1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of production, ensuring output meets quality and efficiency targets.
2. Assist the Production Planner in implementing production schedules, ensuring on-time delivery of products to customers.
3. Manage, motivate, and develop the production team to achieve performance and productivity goals.
4. Implement and monitor KPIs to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
5. Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, SHEQ, and Quality teams to streamline operations.
6. Monitor and manage drivers’ hours of service and compliance with relevant transport regulations.
7. Develop and implement transport policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and safety.
8. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
9. Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and waste minimization.
10. Manage budgets, resource allocation, and production planning to support business objectives.
11. Foster a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork.
12. Work closely with HR to address employee relations issues, support performance management, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
The Person:
1. At least 3 years recent experience working at a management level within the manufacturing industry.
2. Proven hands-on experience of continuous improvement methodologies/manufacturing best practices.
3. The ability to prioritise and make decisions promptly.
4. Strong people management skills.
5. Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other systems.
