Person Specification
Qualification and/or Knowledge
* Achieved (or working towards) degree level or equivalent qualification in IT or able to demonstrate equivalent experience in this area.
* Professional IT qualification such as RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) or CompTIA Linux+ plus relevant experience.
* Commitment to continuing professional development for self.
* ISEB Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management (ITIL) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
* Good general knowledge of common hardware and software applications.
* Understanding of interrelationships between aspects of IT infrastructure and service support requirements.
* In-depth knowledge of the Linux Server distributions and Ansible automation.
* Thorough knowledge of IT Communications Infrastructure; including knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN topologies, PoP3/SMTP/Squid and how it applies to IT infrastructure and service support.
* PRINCE2 foundation or demonstrable equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of NHS Wales organisations & ITIL strategy.
* Knowledge of one or more of the following: LDAP, Scripting, Telecom services security protocols, procedures and best practice.
* Knowledge and understanding of the role of DHCW.
* Knowledge of relevant NHS standards and legal requirements relating to Information Governance and Security.
Experience
* Experience of working in a technical support role and proven experience in the development and support of IT systems.
* Experience of taking a lead role in developing and implementing IT systems and services.
* Experience of Linux Server Applications including: Apache/Nginx, Squid, RedHat Satellite, AWX/Ansible Tower, GIT, Veritas/Symantec Backup Exec and automation using Ansible.
Skills and Attributes
* Good communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to learn new technologies with minimum supervision.
* Ability to analyse and resolve complex IT issues.
* Able to communicate complex ideas to non-technical staff.
* Ability to lead a team.
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
