Mechanical Package Engineer - What we are looking for
A mid-level to senior mechanical engineer within the process industry with a minimum of five years proven industry skills and work experience. You will join the Equipment Engineering department working on various process equipment packages for the production of renewable gases. Process equipment packages consist of various components coupled together to achieve a specified function within a process system (such as water purification, sea-water injection, desalination, crude oil distillation, etc.).
In order to maintain the functionality, performance, and reliability of a process system, every component included in the Package (e.g. pump, compressor, valve, pressure vessel, electric motor, instrument, control system, etc.) will need to be specified accordingly.
Mechanical Package Engineer - Responsibilities
The Package engineer's main objective will be complete ownership of these various multidisciplinary units/equipment procured to build the system and sub-system packages. Ensuring the units/equipment selected are verified, certified, qualified, meet all statutory obligations, and are fit for purpose for the life expectancy of the packaged system based on the contractual agreement. The package unit engineer shall also prepare the right technical documentation (datasheets and specifications) of equipment to support proposals, FEED, detailed engineering, and prototype test rigs.
Key interactions of the Package unit engineer are internally with project teams, procurement department, compliance department, quality department, and other engineering disciplines. Externally with clients, vendors, suppliers, and participate in bid clarification meetings.
About You
Mechanical Package Engineer - Knowledge and Experience
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
2. 5+ years' working experience in handling Packages like Chemical process packages, Cooling Tower, Water treatment packages, Material handling system equipment, compressor packages.
3. Competent with industry standards including the ability to carry out calculations to BS, EN, ISO, ASME, API, etc.
4. Good understanding of ATEX directives, Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), and Machinery Directive.
5. Ability to understand and review supplier documentation such as ITP's, FAT's, SAT's, test reports, and interpret mill certificate, product certification, etc.
6. Solid experience of the design, selection, and specification of all process system equipment i.e. pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, pipework, valves, and fittings.
7. Ability to understand, interpret, and produce engineering documentation i.e. P&ID's, PFD's, engineering drawings, performance graphs, datasheets, specifications.
8. Excellent interpersonal, communication, report writing, and presentation skills to convey technical information to a variety of audiences.
9. Understanding of material selection for industrial applications.
10. Ability to evaluate parts and processes for cost, efficiency, and reliability improvements.
11. Knowledge of Risk Analysis tools such as FMEA, DFMEA.
12. Understand safety, compliance, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
13. Availability to travel internationally to site and vendor workshops.
14. Capable of critical thinking with solid decision-making skills.
15. Strong time management skills, including prioritization management.
16. Proficient with Microsoft suite of products, particularly Excel.
Highly advantageous:
1. Preferably working experience in the oil and gas industry, chemical industry, industrial gases process plants industry.
2. Achieved or working toward Chartered (CEng) status with relevant industry body.
3. Capable user of 3D CAD software, ideally Solidworks.
4. Ability to carry out FEA analysis using ANSYS Mechanical.
5. Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
6. Awareness of EC&I requirements for packaged equipment and pump systems.
7. Familiarity with a manufacturing environment including BOMs and MRP.
8. Knowledge of engineering systems and processes i.e. change notes, NCR's.
