We don’t expect you to be a technology guru or to have technical expertise, but we do expect you to have a genuine passion for technology and a thirst for learning. Y ou will join us as a permanent employee, on a four - year learning programme. Y our fir st two years will be spent working as a valuable member of our service desk team as a Modern Apprentice, thereafter as a Trainee. Our Service Desk team is the initial face of technology at Baillie Gifford. As a Service Desk Analyst, you’ll join our fast-paced, customer service-orient ed t eam, where yo u will help to support the firm by assisting users (staff members) with their technical difficulties, either resolving their problems yourself or escalating for more specialist support. You will spend time learning your new role, developing your technology skills and building strong relationship s, where your flair for customer service will come alive. We will be there to support you at each step of your new learning journey. What does a day in the life of a Service Desk Analyst look like? There will be a variety of tasks and responsibilities in your role which will include the below: P rovide a broad range of hardware and software support to our employees in our offices around the globe. R esolv e technical problems via on-site Service Desk support, face-to-face and over the phone technical support. Y ou’ll monitor, log and allocate calls to ensure a high level of service, each and every time. Y ou’ll assess the user’s issue or requirements, providing a solution if possible and where help is needed, and ensure the correct escalation procedures are followed. You will be responsible for carry ing out daily checks, taking appropriate action, and issuing and maintaining laptops, mobile phones, AV units and general stock. In addition, you will offer comprehensive Mac, PC and printer support and participate in relevant user administration, for example, new start setups, systems overview, changes, and leavers. Support and training will be provided to ensure you’re set for success and feel confident in your role. What will I l earn? The apprenticeship programme will provide a mixture of classroom-based and on-the-job training to allow you to achieve SV Q qualifications in a n IT technology- related course at Level 6 and thereafter optional Level 8. During your apprenticeship, you will have the option to sit the Introduction to Securities & Investment module of the Investment Operations Certificate (IOC). What Qualifications / Qualities are ? A flair for customer service Ability to build strong relationships The ability to work well in a team Solid written and verbal communication skills A positive attitude and enthusiastic m indset Good organisation and time management skills The ability to work methodically and accurately Curiosity and a desire to learn A National 5 in Maths and English, or equivalent, as a minimum A National 5 in Com p uting would be advantageous but is not essential Due to the nature of the learning pathway, the role is an on-site position, based in our Edinburgh office.
