Post Summary:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Consultants and Specialist Registrars who have completed, or are within six months of completion of Specialist Training for this post.
This is an NHS Lothian post and an honorary contract will be sought with the University of Edinburgh. The successful candidate will join an established team. They will have a highly visible consultant presence offering senior support to Radiology Trainees & Radiographers with emphasis on improving patient care through rapid consultant-led assessment. They will be responsible for the delivery of the teaching of radiology and radiography to trainees.
Postholders should expect a busy and rewarding working environment supporting the symptomatic breast service deliver one-stop new patient clinics, general mammographic reporting and MDT meetings and discussions. An additional commitment in support of the South East Scotland Breast Screening service is also expected. The Symptomatic Breast
service is also actively developing regional links with neighbouring boards. The postholders will help to facilitate a regular commitment by NHS Lothian to support the breast services in neighbouring boards. This may require on-site service provision at sites outwith NHS Lothian, by agreement. Postholders will be expected to report cross-sectional imaging relevant to breast disease, comprising CT staging and follow-up examinations and MRI Breast. Contrast enhanced mammography experience will also be required. The successful appointee will be responsible for the delivery of the teaching of radiology and radiography to radiology trainees and advanced practitioners and sonographers.
There are 9 DCC available for direct clinical care in specialty work (subject to discussion and service needs) and up to 1 SPAs.
