Staff will be working with the three Local Authorities in East Berkshire (Bracknell, Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead) alongside Local Authority teams who are working with the CAMHS Children in Care East Team (CIC).
The CiC East team is being established to ensure that children who are in care receive quicker access to mental health support, by working in partnership and sharing knowledge. We effectively meet the needs of children and young people in care and their carers by providing evidenced based interventions that meet their need.
The service aims to improve life chances of Children in Care, by working towards increasing these resiliency factors:
1. Supporting trauma informed care
2. Creating stability of the Child or Young person’s home placement
3. CYP able to maintain a relationship with family members and work to be re-united where that is possible
4. Fostering as strong an attachment as possible with the CYP foster carers or adults responsible for their care (if in a residential setting)
5. Reaching as high as possible Education achievements
6. Creating local social networks, forming positive and meaningful relationships with peers and other adults
This is a unique opportunity to be part of and contribute to a developing and innovative service. These are important posts at the interface with partner agencies and specialist CAMHS.
Responsibilities include:
1. Assisting in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist.
2. Undertaking protocol-based service evaluation, which will include gathering data, using self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with professionals, clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.
3. Assisting in assessments for the service.
4. Assisting with other staff in clinical consultation and assessments and review care as required.
5. Assisting in the development of a psychologically based framework for the understanding of patient care across all settings where care takes place including in a community setting.
6. Attending and contributing to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings, referral assessments and multi-agency meetings.
7. Assisting in the design and implementation of service development and quality improvement projects within the service as required.
