Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter
Hours: Continental 12 hour shifts - 4 on 4 off (4 Days followed by 4 Nights)
Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 per annum - overtime paid at x1.5 & x2.0 + benefits
Location: Kidderminster Area - Easily Commutable from Bromsgrove, Worcester, Halesowen, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Redditch and surrounding areas

You must be willing to work in a heavy plant environment and be open to further training and skill development. Candidates should be qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) through an apprenticeship and/or college and have experience with some of the following: bearings, motors, pumps, gears, belts, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding (MIG/Arc). Suitable candidates will ideally have maintenance, fitting, or servicing experience in an industrial, production, or manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
This is a permanent Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter position, working 12 hour shifts 4 on 4 off (4 Days followed by 4 Nights).
Working in a team of motivated Engineers, day shifts are often more reactive, responding to breakdowns and line issues, while night shifts are often more proactive, focusing on PPM, Continuous Improvement, and Project Work.
Your role will include:
1. Planned Preventative Maintenance across a range of equipment and machinery.
2. Dealing with machinery breakdowns and problems, requiring good fault finding, diagnostics, and repair skills.
3. Assisting with planned shutdowns and project work, refurbishing machines and replacing worn parts.
4. Working safely on large and heavy production machinery to check, repair, or replace belts, bearings, motors, gears, pumps, chains, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Preferred Skills & Experience
1. Completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or hold Mechanical Engineering qualifications (NVQ or C&G) at Level 3 or higher.
2. Experience with mechanical maintenance, mechanical fitting, or servicing work, ideally within industrial and/or production/manufacturing environments.
3. Experience with belts, chains, bearings - fitting & aligning, pumps, seals, motors, gears, hydraulics, pneumatics, MIG / Arc welding, and fabrication is desirable. Training and support can be provided to develop areas where you may be inexperienced.
4. Good troubleshooting and diagnostics skills.
5. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and/or drive chain fault finding is beneficial, as is some experience with Electrical control systems.
6. The ability to think creatively to solve mechanical challenges and issues.
7. Enjoy working as part of a team, delivering PPM, continuous improvement, and investigating long-term solutions to recurring problems.
8. Able to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the CMMS.
9. Commitment to safety and strong experience of health and safety best practices.
