We’re looking for a Senior Content Producer to lead our production team of religion, arts and science programmes for BBC Radio Wales.
BBC Radio Wales is the national English language radio station for Wales. At BBC Radio Wales we are passionate about creating radio which sits at the heart of Welsh life. We entertain our listeners while informing and educating them – but we want to go further than that: we’ll surprise our audience, delight them – not just sometimes, but every day.
We’re home to a diverse range of religious output including our weekly worship slot, Celebration, and our award-winning religious affairs programme All Things Considered. We also make content for BBC Radio 4 including Sunday Worship, Prayer For The Day and The Daily Service. In this role you will also be responsible for overseeing the production of The Radio Wales Arts Show and Science Café as well as other in-house arts and science programming.
Main Responsibilities
As a Senior Content Producer you will lead, motivate and support a team, ensuring that the editorial vision is communicated and understood.
You’ll be responsible for devising, planning and making distinctive digital and audio content across Radio Wales for a variety of religious, arts and science programmes both from and for Wales. You’ll also be the key point of contact for our BBC network radio religion commissions.
You'll come up with imaginative and compelling programme ideas in a wide range of styles and formats which you'll see through to completion.
With an ear for stories and content that resonates with our audiences, you'll have a good sense of the social and political context of Wales, the place of religion and spirituality within contemporary Welsh society, and an understanding of arts and science issues. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience of studio production and have demonstrable experience of working with and directing both new and established presenters.
You’ll embrace the BBC’s digital development plan and ensure content is delivered to the highest standards on all digital platforms including BBC Sounds and social media.
Are you the right candidate?
* Strong interest and understanding of theology: fluency across the range of Christian theological approaches and a good working understanding of the major world faiths.
* A thorough working knowledge of the BBC’s Editorial Values and Standards and their application within live and pre-recorded radio.
* Demonstrable skill in leading speech radio productions, with experience of overseeing technical and operational processes.
* Proficient in working with Christian music, strong knowledge of hymns and worship music.
* A strong journalistic mindset when it comes to speech content, the ability to pinpoint the heart of an issue and have confidence in intelligent questioning.
* Highly-developed planning and organisational skills.
* Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
