The Opportunity
Are you passionate about supporting women who have experienced trauma and mental health challenges? We are looking for an experienced, HCPC-registered practitioner psychologist to join a dynamic multi-disciplinary team. The role is based within a specialised 12-bedded medium-secure service for women, focusing on leadership, consultancy, assessments, and tailored interventions. An exciting element of the position includes the opportunity to train and support the implementation of Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT) within the service. The successful candidate will also collaborate with regional teams to drive service development for women in secure care settings.
Your Responsibilities
1. Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions using evidence-based approaches, including CBT for trauma, EMDR, and other therapies.
2. Deliver training, reflective practice sessions, and clinical supervision to staff, fostering a trauma-informed approach.
3. Contribute to multi-disciplinary team discussions, offering psychological insights for care planning and risk management.
4. Utilise structured risk assessments and facilitate both one-to-one and group interventions addressing areas like anger management, substance misuse, and offending behaviours.
5. Participate in research, service evaluations, and development initiatives to enhance clinical practices.
6. Promote a patient-centred, recovery-focused ethos within the service.
What You'll Need
1. HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
2. Experience working with women in a forensic or secure mental health setting.
3. Specialist training or experience in trauma-focused interventions (e.g., CBT for trauma, EMDR).
4. Skills in delivering therapeutic models such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), or Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).
5. A strong interest in embedding trauma-informed care within a healthcare setting.
6. Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative approach to team working.

The facility is a medium-secure hospital offering care across seven wards, accommodating both male and female patients with diverse needs such as autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, mental illness, and personality disorders.
