Job overview
We are looking for a full-time Senior Phlebotomist for a 37.5 hours per week contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated person with good communication skills to work in a stimulating and challenging environment and to contribute to health care. The candidate should have good I.T and customer service skills, a U.K driving licence, and access to a car at all times as the applicant will be working in clinics located in Merton and Sutton.
We are looking for a responsible, adaptable person to join us in taking blood samples from patients requiring laboratory blood tests. Ideally, the candidate should have experience in adult, paediatric, and domiciliary work.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to take blood from Adult and Paediatric patients in Outpatients, Inpatients, Satellite Clinics and Domiciliary home visits. They will support the day-to-day running of the department and assist in all areas starting from Reception. When working in Outpatients, they will manage patient and staff queries with support from the Phlebotomy Coordinators.
The post holder will ensure the rota for the next day is communicated to all staff and support with administrative queries as they arise. The post holder must also be proactive when a sickness occurs and liaise with the Phlebotomy Coordinators to ensure that sickness is covered.
The post holder will ensure that data is accurately collated and inputted into the system using MS Excel. They will keep the workplace and workbenches clean and tidy in line with Infection control and health and safety practices.
To maintain good work relations with all members of staff to promote effective teamwork and treat everyone associated with the Trust with courtesy and respect.

Person specificationSkillsEssential criteria
* Experience of working with the public in a variety of settings and able to demonstrate good customer care. Experience of working in a health care setting, with skills and experience in rehabilitation of patients, general mobility skills and communication. Good verbal and written communication skills.

* Good organisational skills. Ability to work on own initiative & as part of a team.

* Experience in Phlebotomy.

* Community Phlebotomy is preferred.
