An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 3 Physiotherapy Technical Instructor, within the Musculoskeletal Team/Hydrotherapy service, working 37.5 hours per week, based at Sunderland Royal Hospital; however, there may be a service need to work at the South Tyneside Hospital site.
Full or Part-time hours will be considered.
This role will focus on providing a high standard of Physiotherapy assessment and treatment of patients alongside qualified Physiotherapists. The post-holder will be responsible for their own patient caseload to manage appropriately, under the supervision of qualified staff, with a focus on patient exercise classes primarily in Hydrotherapy and treatment within a Musculoskeletal setting.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of the physiotherapy team, have a caseload of patients, and provide safe and high-quality patient care.
You will have experience of interacting with patients in a care setting, working in a therapy environment, and the ability to work as part of a team.
You will play an important role in gathering first-stage information about the patient that will be used by the relevant Physiotherapist to plan Therapy intervention. You will implement treatment programmes, as designed by the Physiotherapist, individually and in groups in a variety of settings e.g., community and acute hospital in line with your own scope of practice and competency.
You will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of your own caseload and will support the physiotherapists, as required, providing any mobility aids/appliances to patients.
As part of the role, you will undertake Hydrotherapy classes and focus on individual patient care. You will undertake admin tasks and other non-clinical duties in order to support the service on a day-to-day basis.

Job responsibilities
Working in South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, the main purpose of the Physiotherapy Support Worker role is to work as part of the Physiotherapy team to provide high-standard physiotherapy.
The main responsibilities include:
1. Work as part of a team to deliver care that focuses on the direct care needs of the individual, delivered in line with the defined plans of care.
2. Provide support and assistance to qualified physiotherapy staff clinically and administratively, in order to ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency of care.
3. The post holder will often be working alone without direct supervision of the Physiotherapist; however, advice from a Physiotherapist is available.
4. Recognise and consistently work within the boundaries of your role: unless supervised by a HCPC registrant Physiotherapist, only undertake activity that has been competency assessed.
5. Comply with the Trust vision, values, and behavioural compact.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of interaction with the public or patients in a care setting.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Experience of working within a therapy environment.
* Evidence of working as a physiotherapy assistant or technical instructor in a local authority, hospital, or NHS organisation.
* Previous B3 therapy support worker experience.
Skills and Knowledge

Qualifications
* GCSE in English and Numeracy skills to level 1 or equivalent.
* NVQ 3 in a health-related subject or relevant past experience.
* An understanding of South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, its culture, strategic direction, achievements, and NHS standing.
* Recognised academic qualification in a health-related topic.
Physical Skills
* Ability to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and to work within an environment with competing demands.
* Ability to meet travel requirements of post.
* Evidence of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
