Business Development Manager
Field Based - South England
Fixed Term Contract until Jan 2026
Full Time - 37.5 hours per week
£43,000 - £54,000 + car/allowance + commission + benefits

The role of the Business Development Manager is to assume responsibility for all aspects of designated Consumer Intermediaries in the IFA segment. To develop new/existing business relationships across all business lines including Private Medical Insurance (PMI) and areas of business activity and to research and identify business opportunities within a panel of IFA Intermediaries.
How you’ll help us make health happen:
1. Accountable for the performance and delivery of meeting/exceeding targets, ensuring maximum productivity.
2. Accurate forecasting and management of business pipeline to achieve/exceed business objectives
3. Devise and implement a business strategy to develop a best in class business area, liaising across UK Insurance to ensure business priorities are delivered and supported with appropriate levels of priority and urgency
4. Develop productive relationships with IFAs with regular reviewing meetings to discuss sales performance
5. Delivery of engaging proposition presentations to Intermediaries
6. Providing product, underwriting and system training to advisers to promote Bupa to their customers.
7. Representing Bupa at trade and network events
8. Supporting with account planning and strategic network engagement
9. Regular liaison with sales support functions to ensure delivery of a good customer experience, delivered within pre agreed service levels, ensuring no duplication of effort across all teams
10. Analyse reports, data and information, anticipating market changes; leading to refinement of plans and development of solutions to deliver/exceed business growth in a rapidly changing environment
11. Responsible for driving efficiencies and process improvements in order to reduce operational costs, improve sales/retention effectiveness and provide optimum contact with customers
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
12. Field sales experience essential, ideally in the IFA/Networks, PMI /Protection intermediary market with an established contact personal network
13. Strong organisational skills to manage time effectively.
14. Strong relationship management skills to build networks of internal and external contacts
15. Experience of effective sales management techniques and practices
16. A dynamic, credible, and articulate presenter
17. Proven sales and negotiation skills
18. Resilience and confidence in own ability to succeed
19. Ability to focus on ‘big picture’ and to make strategically important decisions within agreed parameters without referral
20. Able to assimilate and analyse information and data from a variety of sources and use this to plan effectively to ensure objectives are met
