Part of a major international group, this organisation is continuing to invest millions in new manufacturing facility and CapEx to produce complex high value components for the automotive industry. Due to continued expansion a Tooling Engineering Supervisor is urgently sought to support future tooling CapEx and new product introduction programmes.
Lead/ Senior Tooling Engineer
Location: Shropshire (commutable from Telford, Shrewsbury, North Birmingham, Kidderminster, Bridgnorth, Cannock, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Stafford areas)
Salary:c GBP 56000 + benefits
The role:
As a Lead Tooling Project Engineer you will be responsible for supervising a small team of Tooling Engineer, managing the design of new tooling/ dies though optimisation, build and buy off process to successful introduction into production
You will be involved in all aspects of tooling from initial product design, instrumental in tool optimisation design, validation and simulation process through to tooling vendor project management and tooling buy off.
o Review and validate designs for all to include high pressure dies casting tools, trim/ clip tools, spray heads and robot end effectors and jigs and fixtures against specifications and RFQ
o Project management of tooling vendors/ suppliers this may involve overseas travelling
o Produce 2D CAD product, tooling, fixture, equipment drawings to support manufacturing, quality and engineering activities.
o Part Feasibility reviews and apply design for manufacture (DFM) principals to evaluate product designs and produce summary reports.
o Complete understanding of component tolerances, dimensional capability statistics and GD and T.
Experience:
You will already have significant experience of Tooling working as either a Tooling Engineer or Tool Design Engineer incorporating design and project management gained with some of the following experience:
o Proficient using 2D / 3D CAD : interrogate and optimise designs
o Expert knowledge of tooling : die casting or stamping dies or plastic injection mould tooling
o Knowledge of robot end effectors/ jig and fixtures/ runner and cooling design would be beneficial
oSupervisory experience
o Project management, supplier vendor management and effective communicate skills in order to and build relationships with customers
