As the Lead Mammographer at our Cambridge Hospital, you will work autonomously to provide and deliver a high-quality diagnostic and technically accurate imaging examinations in line with professional standards. Using clinical knowledge and expertise to undertake a wide range of radiographic examinations within your scope of practice and competence. This is a multi capacity role and there will be an expectation to work in X-Ray and Theatre (CT/MRI experience would be beneficial but not essential).
As a Lead Mammographer, you will:
* Perform high quality and technically accurate radiological procedures as required, in accordance with department protocols and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IRMER)
* Demonstrate the ability to interpret clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, providing clinical reasoning for justification and escalations
* Maintain relevant clinical skills and provide ongoing evidence and motivation for personal CPD, leading sessions for the team on a regular basis in line with the training plan for the department to promote Mammography
* Maintain accurate data collection for all patient’s pathway documentation e.g., RIS, PACS, PIMMS, WHO checklists, IR(ME)R compliance
* Provide day to day leadership and supervision within the department in the absence of the Radiology Manager or Deputy Manager (where appropriate)
* Communicate appropriately with others involved in patients care/pathway
* Support colleagues and less experienced members of the staff being prepared to teach. Support administration staff and radiology assistants to enhance clinical outcomes and patient experience
* Participate in the on-call rota, working flexible where and when required
* Create and maintain positive engagement with others when working within the Radiology department e.g., Theatre, Minor Procedures, Clinics and Oncology
* Undertake service improvement projects in conjunction with line manager, clinical leads, national leads, and other key stakeholders.
* Sit on and participate in specialist interest groups for Radiology within areas of their expertise and contribute to the development of Diagnostic Imaging to the wider charity
* Assist in the review, update and implementation of departmental policy and procedural changes as delegated by the Radiology Manager
* Ensure compliance with all Nuffield Health policies and procedures, escalating where appropriate
* Ensure all records are maintained accurately and conform to all professional body, legal requirements, and Nuffield Health clinical governance policies
* Carry out all QA testing on equipment, reporting any faults immediately by way of escalation
* Perform regular Audit
As a Lead Mammographer, you will have:
* BSc degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent qualification to meet registration requirements
* Active HCPC registration
* Post Graduate Certification in Mammography
* Significant post registration experience in Mammography
* Passion for healthcare delivery at the highest standard
* Excellent interpersonal skills
