We have an opportunity to join our Team at the Emergency Multidisciplinary Unit (EMU) in Witney, up to 25 working hours per week. The Emergency Multi-disciplinary Assessment Unit based at Witney Community Hospital provides sub-acute care for patients over the age of 18 years. Each patient receives an individualised MDT assessment, diagnostics and treatment, with a commitment to patient-centred care. The Team comprises of doctors, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and social care. This post would suit a registered nurse from either an acute background or community setting. We need a wide range of skills for our patient group, and support and development is available to achieve this. EMU works closely with Abingdon EMU, RACU and Hospital at Home to provide care for patients that is closer to home, with aim to prevent any unnecessary hospital admissions. The Unit opening times are currently 10-8pm/ 9-7pm Monday-Friday, and weekends 10-4pm. We welcome informal visits or telephone discussions. Main duties of the job The nursing role encompasses a mixture of general and specialist skills to provide care integrated with primary and secondary care. Nursing skills include advanced patient assessment, coordinating complex discharges, communicating with, and teaching patients and families, phlebotomy and cannulation, administration of IV drugs and blood and care of the acutely ill patient. We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, is reliable, punctual and works well in a team. Creative thinking is a benefit in this changing environment. You will need to be able to work calmly and efficiently within a busy and intensive environment dealing with unpredictable situations whilst working collaboratively to remaining focused on providing a person-centred approach to care and treatment.
