About the Role As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with mental health needs. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe and nurturing environment where students feel supported and understood. Key Responsibilities Assist students with mental health needs on an individual basis or in small groups, offering emotional and academic support. Work with teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support plans tailored to each student’s needs. Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging students to engage in school activities and build positive relationships. Track and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents. Assist in the preparation of materials and resources to support student learning and well-being. Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students. Requirements Previous experience working with children or young people with mental health needs is highly desirable. Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents. A compassionate approach and the ability to remain patient in challenging situations. Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff. Any relevant qualifications or training in mental health or special education will be an advantage. Willingness to adapt to the needs of the school and students.
