As our Trade Compliance Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting NP Aerospace’s import and export activities. You’ll provide logistical and administrative guidance, ensuring all international transactions comply with export control laws and regulations. This role is key to enabling the company to achieve its objectives efficiently, effectively, and in full regulatory compliance. You’ll engage with a variety of departments, including sales, product management, engineering, production, and finance, while liaising with external stakeholders and our nominated freight forwarders. Paid leave for employees who are Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) Pension – ER/EE – 4%/5% 9% combined Life Cover – 3 x base salary BHSF Cash Healthcare Plan MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare, review and maintain accurate export and import documents, including invoices, shipping documents, import licenses, certificates of origin Ensure all shipments comply with all regulations, including customs, tariff codes and any trade restrictions Handle export license applications, as needed, using Department of International Trade (DIT) SPIRE and LITE export licensing systems Liaise with nominated carriers, freight forwarders and internal teams to organise all movements required by the business in the UK, inbound and outbound and resolve any issues Maintain accurate records for all export and import movements to ensure audit readiness in line with HRMC requirements The above statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required. EXPERIENCE Previous experience in export or trade compliance roles. Experience in imports/exports related to the defence industry preferred. Understanding of export documentation, customs requirements, and international trade compliance Knowledge of incoterms, HS codes, and applying of export licenses Experience in both hardware, software, and technology export classification Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams, customers and vendors Ability to analyse complex business situations and advice on the impact of export controls and provide clear instructions at all levels, including stakeholders Able to work well and make clear rational decisions under pressure and work to tight timescales.
