SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (Actual salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30, based on experience) ...
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time Only
We are seeking a committed and caring SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen. In this role, you will support students aged 10-19 with complex needs, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related conditions, helping them succeed in a safe, nurturing environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in both the academic and personal development of our students. You'll work closely with the class teacher to plan and deliver personalised learning activities that promote independence, positive behaviour, and social and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support planning and delivery of lessons and learning activities.
2. Provide regular feedback on student progress and achievements.
3. Monitor and report on individual student development, ensuring compliance with school policies.
4. Assist with behaviour management, adapting strategies to meet each student's unique needs.
5. Encourage social, emotional, and personal growth in line with the school's curriculum.
Skills and Qualifications
6. Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
7. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for student transport).
8. GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
9. Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (preferred).
10. Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
11. Adaptable, creative, and able to provide individualised support for students.
