Overview
JBT currently has a great opportunity for an Engineering Operations Manager to join the ACS Team in Sutton Weaver. Your role based in Sutton Weaver will be to support significant client demand and strategic partnerships for our AutoCoding portfolio. We need to grow the structure within our project engineering team. The day-to-day duties will include management of customer communications, leadership of project activity and planning across a wide variety of projects, managing supplier relationships, assessment of team skills and training needs. The role will require the onboarding of new employees to assist with planning functions and to recruit a replacement field engineer. There will be a continued requirement to visit customer sites to determine the flow and solutions for projects and where specific leadership is required for the installation of software, hardware, and system components, likely throughout the UK and Europe, with the possibility of travel to the USA and the rest of the world.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
1. Take responsibility for the onboarding of new projects and the efficient running of the day-to-day project operation.
2. Create and communicate project plans to customers and the engineering team to enable projects to run to expected budget.
3. Onboard and work with the new planning function to enable day-to-day duties to be delegated.
4. Take responsibility for the recruitment of a replacement field-based engineer.
5. Take accountability for the engineering team and ensure our Quality standards and safe working practices are upheld and continually improved.
6. Manage key supplier relationships and supply chain requirements.
7. Hold reviews with each of the engineers to allow continued growth of skill sets, upskilling, and identification of issues.
8. Work with the various teams in AutoCoding to understand new business initiatives and ensure the team is ready to accept and participate.
9. Where required, take the lead on projects directly at site level to enable skills and knowledge transfer to the engineering team.
10. Be the second line escalation for customer challenges on projects.
11. Ensure budgets are monitored so variance discussions can be had and won.
Qualifications/Experience:
1. Proven experience managing service/project teams.
2. Experience working as a hands-on project manager.
3. Strong leadership and team management skills.
4. Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in a relevant electrical discipline.
5. Ability to demonstrate mechanical skills that have been acquired.
6. Strong appetite to learn and use our own software and 3rd party software systems.
7. End user and project team training skills.
8. Full UK passport and UK driving license.
Not required but beneficial:
1. Knowledge of Microsoft SQL tools including SSRS, SSAS, SSIS.
2. Experience of industrial devices and communication protocols.
3. Experience with project management philosophies such as Prince2, Agile.
4. PLC skills, Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens.
5. Understanding of TCP/IP networks including features such as Firewalls, IIS, and FTP.
6. Understanding of Vision devices such as Sick, Cognex, Omron.
7. Another language – German, Spanish, French.
