BAM Nuttall is recruiting an Environmental Advisor for their Project TRU West.
The Transpennine Route Upgrade is a major investment in the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield. TRU is a multi-billion-pound, transformative, long-term railway infrastructure program that will improve connectivity in the North, support economic growth, and deliver real benefits for passengers and communities along this pivotal rail artery.
In this role
The Environmental Advisor will be responsible for providing clear direction and environmental management support to the Project Teams. They will also work across the Alliance teams to develop and implement processes and procedures to deliver an effective environment management strategy in line with Network Rail strategic environmental priorities and requirements.
Your mission
1. Embed yourself with the specific design and construction team from concept design through to delivery.
2. Work with the project and sustainability teams to embed the Network Rail standard; NR/L2/ENV/015 Environment and Social Minimum Requirements.
3. Check compliance of all works against the Environment and Social Management Plans (ESMP).
4. Draft and implement site specific Waste Management Plans.
5. Undertake site inspections as necessary and complete the Environment and Social Risk Assessments.
6. Ensure compliance with the Construction Phase ESMP and the existing Site Waste Management Plan.
7. Raise Close Calls, both constructive and positive for improving environmental and safety performance on site.
8. Identify and implement opportunities to reduce energy and water usage at our sites.
9. Undertake monthly KPI data collation and submission to the Client.
10. Work with the Social Management team to deliver community activities including work experiences, talks at schools, etc.
11. Energy and environment auditing.
12. Delivering energy management activities to reduce energy use and associated carbon.
13. Monitor, manage and help reduce water, waste, and energy.
Who are we looking for?
1. Previous experience of delivering environmental projects/programmes.
2. Knowledge and experience of implementing Environmental Management standards.
3. Continual improvement programme and project delivery experience.
4. Experience drafting Management Plans and Risk Assessments.
5. Experience of providing technical energy management and environmental sustainability advice to staff and stakeholders at all levels.
6. Excellent knowledge of the sustainability industry, able to identify and implement new technologies and systems to the benefit of the team, wider business, and our stakeholders.
7. Experience in Carbon and Energy Management to deliver improvement programmes and solutions.
8. Working in an Alliancing environment.
9. A strong technical background and experience of developing and delivering on a strategy to improve energy usage, carbon reduction, and environmental sustainability.
