Senior IT Project Manager
Duration: 9 Months (Possibility for extension)
Location: Crewe (3 days per week on site)
Rate: A highly competitive rate is available for suitable candidates
About the role:
The role is responsible for leading and managing significant/multiple IT Projects and Programmes. They have responsibility for creating and maintaining good customer relationships with the project teams and sponsors and to make sure that the needs of the business operations are in place for the launch of the projects. The job holder manages, plans, coordinates, controls and steers the overall Programme and associated project portfolio according to the process requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and present resource estimates and all other related investment requirements for large scale IT projects and programmes.
2. Create related budget spend forecasts.
3. Ensure the business case is valid and approved before project commencement.
4. Raise any required budget release requests and support investment planning and management as required.
5. Identify internal and external project dependencies and prepare inclusive work breakdown structure (WBS).
6. Turn the WBS into a schedule with the critical path identified.
7. Trigger procurement process and onboard project team members as appropriate.
8. Determine the methodology to apply in accordance with the established clients project management framework.
9. Lead active risk and issues management.
10. Manage any change that materially alters the project scope or plan.
11. Monitor and track project expenditure.
12. Maintain a watch on project benefits realisation.
13. Lead preparation and delivery of project gateways.
14. Validate technical solution designs.
15. Build relationship with stakeholders and project team members.
16. Prepare and share regular project status updates and reports.
17. Ensure that projects are suitably closed down once the change is implemented.
18. Undertake lessons learnt review.
19. Prepare benefits/outcome delivery review.
20. Ensure project artefacts are filed appropriately.
21. Build knowledge of project management frameworks and contribute to Project Management practice led initiatives.
22. Supports Team Lead in providing mentoring and knowledge transfer to less experienced Project Managers.
23. Proactively contributes to supporting & developing other Project Managers.
24. Provides constructive feedback to other Project Managers.
25. Shares knowledge with peers where appropriate.
26. Demonstrates understanding of clients corporate strategy.
27. Proactively builds knowledge of business domains and the automotive industry.
28. Demonstrates full understanding of established IT frameworks pertaining to role.
Skills and Experience:
1. Demonstrable experience in an IT related application or technical area with supervisory or management control over projects and resources.
2. Programme Management experience.
3. Mentoring others.
4. Must be able to organise and manage workload to reflect company priorities.
5. Evidence of successful delivery of strategic projects.
6. Evidence of interpersonal skills appropriate to the role.
7. Analytical and decision-making skills.
8. Wide-ranging business process knowledge.
9. Experience of complete project life cycles.
10. ITIL awareness.
11. Knowledge of the VW Group IT processes.
12. Project Management (inc PRINCE2).
13. SCRUM & Agile methodologies.
14. Project Management Software.
