Trainee Linux Administrator
Location: Crawley with hybrid once probation passed £30-50k

About the Role
We're looking for a Linux Administrator to join our client's growing IT team. In this hybrid role, you'll be based in West Sussex, with the flexibility of remote working. With a salary from £35-50k, they offer some excellent benefits including a very strong bonus (10-30%), 29 days holiday (progressing up to 33), medical and dental coverage, and more.
What You'll Be Doing
1. Day-to-day administration and build of Linux servers, tools, workflows, automation, ensuring stability, performance, and security.
2. Assisting with server deployments, updates, and patches, new builds, maintenance, improvement.
3. Collaborating with developers and IT teams to automate processes and improve workflows.
4. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues efficiently.
5. Monitoring system performance and suggesting enhancements, Zabbix, Nagios etc.
6. Learning and contributing to scripting, automation, and configuration management tools.
What We're Looking For
1. A degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent experience and geekery to show.
2. 12-18 months of Linux system administration experience (can be at home, but you WILL be expected to talk in depth / show your skills).
3. A busy GitHub showcasing your personal or collaborative projects (or enough private projects to show us your passion!).
4. An analytical mindset with a passion for creative problem-solving.
5. Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Perl, Shell, Bash, Python) and configuration tools like Ansible or Terraform is a plus.
6. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
7. Genuine excitement about tech, building creative and clever ideas up.
