We are looking for a Logistics and Materials Lead to join our Procurement Team based in Coventry.
In this role you will support the setup and eventual management of logistics operations for a new manufacturing facility developing ways of working for a key customer. The facility is currently at the Design Development stage and the Logistics Lead will be instrumental in creating and implementing logistics processes from the ground up, ensuring that all materials, goods, and supplies are available to meet customer needs when the facility becomes operational. This role will also involve ongoing responsibilities for Goods In & Despatch, transport coordination, and procurement once the facility is live.
Duties and Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
Facility Setup & Process Design – Lead the development and implementation of all logistics, warehousing, and inventory management processes for the new facility, ensuring they align with goals and timelines.
Goods In & Despatch Operations – Oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials and finished goods, ensuring timely and accurate stock management once the facility is operational.
Material control – ensuring all customer owned work-in-progress and stored material is accounted for and tracked within the facility.
Transport & Supplier Coordination – Manage the transport of materials to and from the facility, establishing relationships with customer, suppliers, and logistics providers to ensure efficient delivery during both the setup and operational phases.
Procurement & Inventory Management – Lead the procurement of materials, consumables, and PPE for both the setup and operational phases, maintaining accurate levels to support operations.
Compliance & Safety – Ensure all logistics processes comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, establishing safe and efficient handling and storage practices.
Person Specification
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Proven experience in logistics, supply chain, and/or warehouse management; Ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong experience in supply chain management, inventory control, and procurement processes.
Proficiency in logistics and inventory management software
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement logistics processes
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Experience in setting up logistics operations for a new manufacturing or industrial facility.
Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field.
