In the Late Respiratory & Immunology (Late R&I) organisation, we're driven by innovation and our dedication to make a real-life difference in patients' lives. That difference starts with you. As the Scientific Communications & Engagement Lead within Late R&I, you will be responsible for developing, managing and delivering integrated communication plans and events that positively impact AstraZeneca's culture, employee engagement and performance.
Working within a dynamic environment you will directly support the Senior Vice President, Late R&I, the Head of Business Planning and Operations and the Leadership Team to develop direct science engagement and communications for internal and external activities. You will drive the monthly reporting, news flow and various events for the department. You will also work closely with the R&I Communications Team within Biopharmaceuticals R&D as well as the R&I BBU Corporate Affairs, Global Medical Affairs and Global Commercial.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build and develop engaging communication content and materials for both internal and external events, ensuring full engagement of the Late R&I organisation across the globe.
2. Engage and energise colleagues with our priorities and report progress on pipeline, scientific, organizational, AZ site, therapy area, and industry news.
3. Drive department Townhalls, community building and best practice sharing.
4. Responsible for team inputs into R&I Communications within Biopharmaceuticals R&D as well as BBU R&I Corporate Affairs, Global Medical Affairs and global commercial organisation.
5. Responsible for inputs into monthly Senior Executive Team (SET) reports and Town Halls.
6. Actively seek out and promote the Science stories, Post Cards and communication around publications and successes.
7. Lead and facilitate the development of relevant content for the Late R&I Nucleus page, SharePoint, Workplace, Workvivo, and other platforms and communication channels as is appropriate.
8. Drive the material for communication of strategic progress throughout the year, e.g. scorecard, Mid-Term Planning, Long-Term Planning.
9. Stay abreast and communicate implications of key industry and therapy area trends and competitor activity.
10. Develop and maintain compliant content for communicating Late R&I's vision with key external experts and trial investigators.
11. Contribute to BioPharma R&D communications programmes and activities through the Scientific Communication and Engagement Network (SEN).
Essential Requirements:
1. Bachelors degree with in-depth scientific knowledge in Respiratory and Immunology therapy areas, drug discovery and development process.
2. Proven experience working in a large-scale, global late-stage Respiratory and Immunology organisation.
3. Considerable experience in a highly matrixed, science-driven environment.
4. Self-starter with demonstrated ability to proactively engage, influence and collaborate across boundaries with delivery focus and a problem-solving attitude.
5. World class English written and verbal communication skills.
6. Strong analytical skills with proven track record of delivering high quality deliverables in line with tight timescales.
7. Impeccable professionalism with strong business acumen and organisationally savvy with sensitivity to highly confidential information.
8. Proactive approach with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple requests simultaneously and effectively.
9. Demonstrated attention to detail, working to consistently deliver to a high standard.
10. Strong organisational, forward-planning, and stakeholder management skills.
11. Solid relationship-building skills to develop networks both within the company and externally.
12. Candidates should provide a sample of their work with their application.
Desirable Requirements:
1. MS or PhD in Life science.
