What ASEND Tuition Is
We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Slough. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school.
We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.
* If you think this is not the right role for you, do still apply as we are always on the lookout for people with different expertise to work with our pupils in various locations.
About The Pupil
Our pupil is a 14-year-old boy with ADHD and autism who was previously in a mainstream setting but experienced bullying and extreme anxiety. He has been home educated by his family and he is now at the point where he needs a tutor to work towards qualifications. He loves gaming and would be suited to a career in tech/game design. He enjoys Marvel films, Lego, and watching The Big Bang Theory. He is anxious about new things, so progress will need to be made slowly. He has been described as a Young Sheldon!
The ideal tutor will make learning fun and take the time to establish trust and rapport with him. A therapeutic approach is needed to build a trusting relationship with him and his family and introduce maths and English. A mentor/buddy approach is required to help him engage in learning and build confidence.
