Head of Procurement - Chorley - Flexible Working - £75k-£80k basic, £7,400 car allowance plus bonus

This role is extremely exciting and a new position within our client’s business, with scope for developing a full procurement team over the coming months.
Our client is a PE backed specialist provider of technical services who are part of a group of companies with national coverage. Axon Moore is looking for an extremely experienced Head of Purchasing to join this growing organisation.
This role heads up the group's procurement function, requiring you to build strong relationships with colleagues and the supply chain to deliver the most cost-efficient goods and services without compromising on quality. You will have full responsibility for developing, implementing, and managing standardized procurement processes across the group that can be leveraged to add value.
Please note this role will be based in Chorley but allows flexible working 1-2 days a week.
More about the role:
1. Running Tender Activities:
You’ll be responsible for ensuring suitable tender processes are run to achieve the best value for money. You will manage procurement requests raised by the business, including sourcing multiple suitable quotes where necessary, and entering long-term framework arrangements for goods and services.
2. Track Your Savings:
You’ll develop a method to log savings generated for the business, which will be used to set and monitor targets and support business cases for further investment within the procurement team.
3. Build and Manage a Team:
You will head up the procurement team and be responsible for hiring and ongoing development of staff, ensuring we recruit ‘A Players’ who want to grow with the organization.
4. Develop, Implement and Manage Procurement Processes:
You will standardize how the business purchases throughout the group while ensuring that suitable data is captured and that systems are developed to be fit for purpose.
5. Strategic Liaison:
You will liaise with Heads of Departments to develop and deliver on the group's strategy and support newly acquired organizations in utilizing the group processes and approved supply chain partners.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Purchasing/Procurement
2. CIPS or similar professional membership
Knowledge & Experience:
1. Demonstrable experience within a similar role.
2. Experience operating in a multi-divisional organization is beneficial.
3. Up-to-date knowledge of contractual law and procurement practice.
4. Proven negotiation experience.
5. A track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
