Join our pioneering Women's Only Project as a creative practitioner
Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney are currently inviting blacksmiths and jewellery makers to work in our pioneering Women’s Only Project.
This project will house 9 women who have experienced domestic violence, coercive relationships, and sexual violence. The project will provide therapeutic courses in these subjects as well as provide opportunities to engage in creative workshops to improve wellbeing, skills, and confidence. Any works created in the creative workshops will then be sold in the social enterprises currently operating on site.
This role will see applicants design and facilitate an eight-week course in blacksmithing/jewellery making for up to 10 women. You will support women to learn new skills and increase their confidence in producing metalwork items. Items made by the applicant and women taking part in the course must be suitable to be sold in our shops.
We have a forge on-site with all necessary equipment including a power press. Successful applicants will be able to request further equipment and supplies if necessary.
During the one-year pilot of the women’s only project, creative workshops will be held in different blocks and terms. The metalwork 8-week block will take place in June & July, and applicants must be available during this period. Workshops will run for 6 hours a day with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch with a cooked meal provided.
Successful applicants must be able to ensure that they:
1. Are skilled at blacksmithing/jewellery creation
2. Have experience working with or supporting vulnerable adults
3. Have the ability and skills to facilitate groups
4. Have sufficient course material to fulfil the desired work period
5. Can produce items to be sold in our social enterprises
6. Have sufficient transport to reach our site in Ditchingham
Desired qualities are:
1. Approachable and caring character
2. Training or experience in safeguarding vulnerable adults
3. Previous experience in similar roles
We would particularly like to hear from individuals who have lived experience of homelessness, domestic violence, sexual violence, or mental health issues.
