Data Protection at Blue The data function is responsible for the business’ compliance with its regulatory obligations from a data protection perspective. We collaborate closely as one function and work with all other teams across Blue. Overall purpose of the role The Junior Data Protection Administrator will provide support to the Data and Privacy Function with the administration of a range of key tasks. The role will assist the department and the wider business with compliance with UK data protection legislation in a supportive and objective manner with the aim of reducing data and privacy risk to the business. Key responsibilities and accountabilities Administer and process data subject requests (Data subject access requests, data erasure/rectification/restriction) through their lifecycle under supervision, ensuring that confidentiality is maintained Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders Manage busy email inbox, responding to queries around Subject Rights Request and delegating email where appropriate Responsible for maintaining records of Data Subject Rights and timescales ensuring they are completed within the legal timeframe avoiding breaches Assist with general administration of data erasure/rectification/restrict processing requests Support the Function to ensure Blue meets its statutory obligations under Data Protection legislation. Assist with the processing and filing the function’s incoming post. Assist with ad-hoc projects as required by the function. Compliance and regulation Develop and maintain a full understanding of the Company’s compliance requirements (including the Financial Conduct Authority’s Conduct Rules) and act in accordance with the standards, instructions in, and the spirit of those requirements. Act to deliver good outcomes for our customers and understand how this requirement specifically applies to your role at Blue. Person specification Integrity and high professional ethics. Ability to handle information and business affairs with discretion and confidentiality as appropriate. Knowledge of the information legislation, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the UK General Data Protection Regulation would be desirable. Experience having worked in a regulated business or financial services is desirable. Willingness to gain knowledge and understanding of data and privacy matters through on-the-job and formal learning to further their career Ability to understand and comply with documented processes, policies and procedures Good team player, flexible and adaptable with the ability to be able to work on own initiative Strong interpersonal skills, able to establish effective working relationships at all levels Ensures consistency in all tasks, including attention to detail and accuracy when completing tasks.
