As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing all costs related to building projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. You will minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money while ensuring the required standards and quality are maintained. You will be responsible for cost control, contractual administration, and financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
2. Conducting cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
3. Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
4. Performing risk, value management, and cost control.
5. Advising on a procurement strategy.
6. Identifying, analysing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
7. Preparing and analysing costings for tenders.
8. Allocating work to subcontractors.
9. Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
10. Ensuring that the project meets legal and quality standards.
11. Managing project finances, tracking payments, and ensuring budget adherence.
12. Preparing reports for clients and other stakeholders.
13. Liaising with clients, architects, engineers, and other contractors to ensure efficient project delivery.
14. Managing contractual matters and claims in accordance with project contracts.
Requirements:
15. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
16. Proven experience working with a main contractor on large-scale projects.
17. Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT).
18. Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
19. Proficiency in relevant software, such as Microsoft Excel and project management tools.
20. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
21. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
