We are looking to appoint a highly qualified and inspiring Director of Sport to provide leadership, vision and visible marketing of co-curricular sport and games throughout the school. In addition, the Director of Sport will lead academic PE as a curriculum subject.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and enthusiastic individual and be an experienced teacher possessing excellent strategic, leadership and people management skills.
Competitive salary dependent on experience.

Assistant Director of Sport, PE & Co-curricular Teachers, Coaches and Volunteers
Job Purpose:
The Director of Sport has overall responsibility for leading the PE Department in fostering an enjoyment of sport throughout the school. She/he will ensure high standards of teaching, learning and achievement, efficient use of resources and the creative development of the PE and co-curricular sport. He/she will have overall responsibility for managing the use and development of the School’s Sports facilities including the Swimming Pool.
Key Performance Areas:
Management and leadership:
* Provide leadership and development for all areas of sporting activity, including strategy, coaching, operations and facilities.
* Ensure provision of appropriate sports and activity programmes to engage all pupils in sports and other recreational opportunities.
* Have overall responsibility for the staffing and management of the school’s programme of games.
* Be responsible for the appointment of non-teaching coaches, liaising with the Head and Bursar to ensure safe recruitment.
* Manage all CCB staff, internal and peripatetic, who coach the school teams.
Teaching & Learning:
* Update the PE and Games policy, schemes of work and medium-term plans.
* Monitor the PE and Games curriculum and standards.
* Collate and standardise assessment scores at all key stages – in particular Key Stage 4 (GCSE PE) and Key Stage 5 (A Level PE).
* Organise and coordinate GCSE and A Level Practical Moderation with the external moderator.
* Monitor and interpret government, national sporting bodies and school data, to ensure up to date teaching practices and assessment.
* Analyse public exam results to measure progress and value added
* As required, produce annual academic and co-curricular reports on PE and Games
Resource Management:
* Manage the PE and Games budget.
Health & Safety:
* Ensure that there is a safe working and learning environment in all sports facilities in which risks are properly assessed.
* Plan and co-ordinate the safe transportation of children for all PE specific off-site activities.
Community and national work:
* Liaise effectively with National Governing Bodies and local sports organisations to enhance the sport offering at the school
* Promote Christ College through hosting and organising national and local events and taking part in regional and national tournaments
Communications and marketing:
* Communicate regularly and effectively with staff and parents regarding sporting fixtures and general sporting issues.
* Provide timely information for the school Marketing and Admissions team; promote all sporting events and successes by individuals and teams by providing news stories for the local media and school social media.
Professional Standards:
* To be aware of the example a teacher should set to the pupils.
* To participate in the cover rota as directed by the Deputy Head (Pastoral).
* To take part in the School’s staff development programme.
* To contribute to any extra-curricular activities operated by the department.
