Due to business growth and project activity, an advanced sensor business is looking for an engineer to join the business development team. As the Sales Engineer or Lead Applications Engineer you will work with the sensor business development team on new and existing opportunities providing technical input and guidance.
You will be responsible for reviewing customer requirements for new sensor projects and creating project plans and proposals to deliver projects. This will require you to understand sensing technology and how it is applied, as well as typical project to integrate it into a customers product and work with a customer through to production launch. You will also be able to provide expert advice and guidance to customers and challenge them on their thinking as to how best to utilise the technology in their application.
This appointment offers the ability to have a significant influence in the growth of our customer base within a small and dynamic company commercialising its sensor and measurement system technology in various exciting growth markets and applications including aerospace, automotive, robotics as well as the aftermarket working with world leading customers.
You will also collaborate with the engineering team to ensure that projects are properly planned, costed, then delivered with any scope creep being captured. The appointment brings with it the ability to use a wide range of experiences and knowledge, while at the same time, working within a creative team.
The Role:
The key responsibilities for the Sales Engineer / Lead Applications Engineer will be:
· Dealing with customer enquiries, including reviewing technical and commercial requirements qualifying opportunities
· Generating new leads and opportunities through prospecting activity
· Managing and growing existing key accounts as well as developing new customer opportunities in our focus markets of; Aerospace, Motorsport, Robotics, Off-Highway Machinery and Automotive eDrives.
· The creation of detailed proposals based information gathered for technical projects
· Negotiating contract terms and managing the customer onboarding process
· Managing the relationship between the business development team, engineering and operations to ensure that customer programs are successfully on boarded and delivered.
· Maintaining and developing sales pipeline reporting so that progress can be communicated clearly to the rest of the business and board.
· Visiting customers, potential customers and attending trade shows
The Person:
You will have:
· A background in aerospace, automotive or robotics systems engineering working for an OEM or Tier supplier in a technical capacity
· Ideally some commercial experience as well
· An interest in learning how our technology works and the benefits it brings to our target customers
· Current driving licence
You will be:

· Prepared to regularly travel to customers and trade shows
Qualifications and Experience
· Degree in Engineering or Science or equivalent.
· Experience in one or more of the following industries: automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, or robotics
This role can be based in either the Bicester facility or Newcastle-upon-Tyne office
